Interior Design and “Communication in Space”

Space communicates through its form, material, colour and light. The development of space beyond its physical boundary surfaces is the key subject of all disciplines of our interior design bachelor and master degree programmes. The integration of analogue and digital media increases the possibilities for communication. Today, the design of space has become a valuable good in various markets. The professional field for interior designers is expanding towards new peripheral areas – interior designers work increasingly in interdisciplinary teams.

At the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, the focus of the master degree programme is on designing spaces under the aspect of “Communication in Space.” Over the past few years, the design of architectural space as communication space has gained considerably in economic importance and has become an increasingly complex challenge for designers.
